The Knox VFW Post 748 shared an announcement on Monday, requesting volunteers.
The announcement states that every year for Memorial Day, the VFW invites the community to join them in Standing for the Fallen, by posting one person per flag in half-hour shifts for 24 hours. This year the event will take place from noon on Sunday, May 24th through Monday, May 25th. There are 7 flags in the ceremony, and the VFW shared that turnout improves each year.
There are still some unfilled slots this year and the VFW is asking the community to commit to standing for the fallen for 30 minutes. There is no age requirement to participate.
To sign up for a slot, interested community members can call 574-772-2298 or can stop by the VFW Post 748 in person; located at 1511 South Heaton Street in Knox.
