
An announcement from The Starke County Community Foundation shares that its summer scholarship applications will open on June 1.
The application is available at www.nicf.org/starke-county/scholarships and must be submitted by Thursday, July 2.
Several scholarships are currently available to support Starke County residents in their pursuit of higher education:
• The Forrest and Helen Whitson and son, John Witson, Scholarship provides scholarships to sophomore and higher-level Purdue University students in the school of Engineering, Agriculture, or Consumer and Family Living and also graduated from a Starke County High School.
• The Helen and Ware Edgar Scholarship provides educational scholarships to a Starke County, Indiana, High School graduate who plans to pursue a career in journalism.
• The Megan Elytha Jean Sahlhoff Music Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for Starke County residents who are graduating from North Judson -San Pierre High School and are pursuing a career with a major or minor in the field of music or a music related field.
• The Starke Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship provides support for educational scholarships for students who are residents of Starke County and are attending any two- or four-year college, university or vocational school and pursuing a course of study in the medical field.
• The Back Home Again in Indiana Scholarship supports non-traditional students who wish to pursue higher education and/or training to enhance their skills for employment. Non-traditional students include those who have graduated from high school or obtained a GED and have delayed entrance into college, rather than earning a degree immediately after high school.
