North Judson Mint Festival: Event schedule for Saturday, June 20

This weekend is the 49th annual North Judson Mint Festival, with activities kicking off on Friday and continuing throughout the weekend.

The majority of events this weekend are scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 20th, with activities planned beginning at 6am and going through the fireworks show at 9:30pm at Norwayne field.

Here is a list of events and activities happening at the Mint Festival on Saturday; all times listed are Central:

The day begins with registration for the Dr. Ufkes 5k Run / 2-Mile Walk by the water tower at 6am. The Run/Walk starts at 7am at the corner of Keller and Main Street.

The Masonic Lodge Pancake Breakfast will run from 7-11am.

Events that will be taking place at Keller and Main all day include a Taste of North Judson, an Arts and Crafts corner, and the Kids Time to Shine Market. The Mint Festival Headquarters is also located at Keller & Main.

Registration for the Car Show begins at 8am at the corner of Highway 10 and Ufkes Drive. Registration will remain open until 11am, and judging will begin at noon with trophy presentation to take place at 2pm.

Also beginning at 8am is Mint Quad Volleyball at Town Park.

Multiple events begin at 9, including a Farm Toy Show at the North Judson Middle School, an Antique Tractor Show at the High School Parking Lot, and registration for the Cooking with Mint contest will begin at the North Judson United Methodist Church. Judging for Cooking with Mint will take place at 11am.

Helicopter rides will be given at the High School beginning at 9 and going through 4pm.

Those wishing to register for the Golf Cart and Poker run can do so beginning at 9:30 at the North Judson Fire Department; the poker run itself will take place from 10am – 1pm.

Multiple performances will take place throughout the day at Keller and Main Street, beginning at 10am with Mousetrap Puppets. Mousetrap Puppets will also perform at 2:30 and 4pm. There will be magic shows by Kalita Magic at Keller and Main at 11:30am, 3:30pm, and 6pm. Finally, the Silly Safari Animal Show will be there at 5pm and 6:30pm.

Starting at 10am, the Homerun Derby will begin at North Judson Park. Registration for the Pedal Tractor Pull also begins at 10 on Main Street. The Pedal Tractor Pull will take place at 11am.

There will be a presentation on Weapons of the American Revolution at the Library at 10am, as part of Starke County’s America 250th celebrations. Continuing those celebrations will be the presentation of Starke County’s Liberty Tree, to take place at 11am at the library. A new Weapons of the Revolutionary War presentation will take place at 1pm.

Also at 11am, Train Rides from Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum will begin running. Those rides run again on the hour through 3pm. The beer garden will be open from 11am to 11pm on Saturday, and Bingo will begin at American Legion at 11 and to go until 5pm.

SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church will be giving church tours beginning at 11am and going through 3pm.

America’s 250th Celebrations will continue at noon with patriotic music at Norwayne Field Pavilion, sang by NJSP and Knox Choirs. There will also be Americana discussions plus reenactors at the Library, beginning at 3pm.

A petting zoo will be set up between the Police Station and the Library from 1-4pm.

Live bands will begin performing at Norwayne Field Pavilion at 2pm, beginning with Bottoms Up from 2-4. Hersteria will take the stage from 5-7, with Aftermath scheduled to play from 8-11.

Mint Tours will be given at the Wappel Farm at 2pm and 3pm, with tours beginning at Heartland Church.

Pet Parade Registration begins at 3pm, north of the North Judson Library. The Pet Parade itself will begin at 4pm in the same area.

A video from the Starke County Treasures Tour will be presented at the Library at 3pm.

Registration for the Kersting’s Mint Fest Ride will begin at 3pm, and riders will depart at 4.

There will be a Frog Jumping Contest held on Main Street at 3pm, and a video game truck at Kids Craft Corner from 3-7pm.

Two contests begin at 4pm, a Corn Hole Tournament at Irish Pub, and a donut eating contest at the corner of Main Street and Keller.

Teen Karaoke is scheduled to take place at the Keller Avenue event tent from 8-9pm.

The evening will conclude with a fireworks show at Norwayne Field beginning at 9:30pm.
