Starke County Commissioners remove agricultural structure permit fee exemption

The Starke County Commissioners adopted an ordinance this week that removes a fee exemption for permits issued for agricultural structures.

The Commissioners adopted the ordinance, Ordinance 2026-25, on Tuesday, August 18th. The ordinance amends Section 6-5-2 of the Starke County Code.

According to the notice of adoption, the new ordinance removes subsection D from the Section 6-5-2 entirely. Subsection D previously stated that there was no fee required for permits issued for agricultural structures.

The notice states the change removes the exemption to help ensure all development within the county is treated equally.

The ordinance became effective immediately upon approval by commissioners.

A full copy of the ordinance is available at the Starke County Planning and Building Department and the Starke County Auditor’s Office.
