Knox Community High School has received $5,000 through T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights program.
According to information from T-Mobile’s Senior Communications Manager, Knox was selected as a week four winner in the national program, which provides awards to high schools in communities with populations under 150,000.
This $5,000 award can be used by the school for academics, athletics or other needs within the school community.
Knox is also eligible for additional awards through the program. Forty division finalists will each receive $25,000, with four division champions later receiving $250,000 each. One school will ultimately receive a football stadium upgrade valued at $1 million.
According to information provided with the announcement, Knox is one of 18 Indiana schools to receive a $5,000 award through the program so far this year.
Other eligible high schools can apply for the program through September 18th. Applicants are asked to submit a short story or essay explaining why their school should receive a transformation.
The 40 division finalists will be selected following the application period, with public voting scheduled for October 8th through October 25th. The grand prize winner is scheduled to be announced November 12th.
