The Railroad Township Advisory Board recently shared meeting minutes from its August meeting.

During that meeting, the Board took action on multiple equipment needs for the San Pierre Fire Department.

According to the minutes, representatives from the fire department presented two quotes for truck repairs. A quote of $8,039.91 was presented for repairs to the department’s 1999 Tanker 1, while a second quote of $45,250.45 was presented for the 1992 Engine 2. Neither repair quote was approved.

According to the meeting minutes, new OSHA guidelines will require the 1992 Engine 2 to have a three-person cab in order to remain usable. The board later approved selling the 1992 Engine 2, a white truck and a water tank truck, with fire department representatives indicating they would like to purchase a used fire truck.

The board did approve the installation of brakes, although the minutes do not specify which vehicle will receive them.

In other business, the board approved moving forward with electrical installation at Trinity.

The board also discussed damage to a ceiling tile following a thunderstorm and approved contacting someone to inspect the roof.

A concern was also raised about nails sticking out of some picnic tables at the San Pierre park. Township Trustee Katherine Chaffins said the issue would be addressed.
