NJSP School Board Thanks Former Member, Plans to Appoint New Member

UPDATE: North Judson-San Pierre school officials moved the public interviews and appointment to Tuesday, December 4 at 5:30 p.m. The location remains the same.

The North Judson-Pierre School Board was one member short when they met last week. Since she officially left her position as the school board’s Railroad Township representative, Susan McCormack sat in the meeting as an audience member Tuesday night.

Board President Sheila Akers took a minute to recognize McCormack’s contribution to the NJ-SP school board, “I’m happy to have Susan with us tonight and to be able to say thank you on behalf of the board, but I’m sad you’re leaving.” Continue reading →

Starke County Election Board Finds Harris Ineligible for Railroad Township Board Race

A Railroad Township Trustee candidate is now out of the race, but another name has been added. John Harris is officially off the ballot following a pair of challenges against his campaign, according to Starke County Clerk Vicki Cooley. She says the Starke County Election Board reviewed the challenges Friday and determined that Harris was not an eligible candidate for the May primary.

Open Seats in Starke County for 2018 Elections

According to Starke County Election Deputy Clerk Crystal McCarty-Taylor, people can file for a declaration of candidacy starting today anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and they have until February 9th at noon to file.

Interested individuals must come into the Starke County Clerk’s Office to file. She added that no exceptions will be made if the February deadline is missed.

Officials up for election in Starke County include the County Sheriff, Assessor, Coroner, Recorder and Auditor as well as the Prosecuting Attorney and Circuit Court Clerk. Elections will also be held for the County Commissioners in District 2 which includes California, Center and Davis Townships. Continue reading →
