Winamac Park Board Decides to Stop Pursuing Pool Project
Winamac’s swimming pool rebuilding effort appears to have come to an end. The town council narrowly decided Wednesday not to proceed with the project until the town has the money to support the ongoing maintenance of the pool. Without the town council’s financial support, the park board followed suit Thursday, voting to stop work on the project.
Pulaski County Council Putting Finishing Touches on 2018 Budget Proposal
The Pulaski County Council met in special session Wednesday to cut $338,000 from its 2018 budget proposal. As part of that effort, county employees who were set to get a two-percent raise would now only get a one-percent increase, based on Wednesday’s discussion. That’s expected to save the county about $45,000 in next year’s budget.

Three local elementary schools saw their letter grades decline in the latest round of School Accountability Grades. Oregon-Davis, Eastern Pulaski, and West Central elementary schools all got a C for the 2016-2017 school year, down from a B the year before. Culver Community Middle/High School also went from a B to a C.
Pulaski County Commissioners Plan to Revisit Employee Comp Time Policy
It may soon be easier for Pulaski County employees to use their comp time for needed medical procedures. The issue came up during Monday’s county commissioners meeting. It was learned that an employee in the Assessor’s Office is scheduled to have a knee replacement in January and planned to use 42 hours of comp time that she’d accumulated.

The Pulaski County Council will put the finishing touches on its 2018 budget tonight. Council members spent a couple of days in August working on the budget with various county department heads. But as of last month’s regular meeting, a few hundred thousand dollars still had to be cut.

A felony charge has been dropped against a woman who’d been accused of assisting a murder suspect back in March. Augusta Hadden, 39, was accused of throwing a cell phone out of a truck driven by Edward Blackburn, following the murder of Cord Colgrove in rural North Judson.
Pulaski County Commissioners to Meet Tonight
Pulaski County’s ATV ordinance is expected to be discussed during tonight’s county commissioners meeting. Last year, the commissioners adopted an ordinance allowing off-road vehicles to be driven on county roads in certain circumstances. These include agricultural and governmental uses.

Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum’s Pumpkin, Halloween Trains to Return in October
Special fall train excursions will be offered during the month of October at North Judson’s Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum. Pumpkin Trains will run the first three Saturdays in October. Passengers will enjoy a trip through the countryside to English Lake and back, before stopping at the museum’s pumpkin patch.

Francesville Woman Arrested on Drug, Neglect of a Dependent Charges
A report of a possible domestic incident Wednesday night led to a Francesville woman being arrested on drug charges. Deputies from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home in the 100 block of North Plummer Street around 10:00 p.m., after a caller said they heard screaming and yelling coming from a house.
High School Seniors Encouraged to Continue their Education during College Application Day
Indiana high school students are getting some extra encouragement today to apply for college. As part of National College Application Day, 13 Indiana colleges are waiving their application fees, according to Learn More Indiana. On top of that, more than 50 events are taking place around the state.
