Starke County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a critical incident near 700 East and 50 South Sunday, July 23.
In a press release from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a call of a small SUV in the ditch off the east side of the roadway. It was reported the vehicle had taken out a utility pole and appeared to have rolled over several times.
Two male victims were reported as being in the vehicle. The Starke County Sheriff’s Department announced names are not being released at this time. The press release stated an adult male driver was extricated from the vehicle and emergency personnel rendered aid to a male juvenile passenger who was ejected during the crash and was laying on the ground at the rear of the vehicle.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department says both individuals were taken by medics from the scene to landing sites where medical helicopters flew them to an area hospital for treatment.
At the time of the incident, both subjects were considered very critical. The press release states it was clear that the SUV was traveling south on 700 East when it went off the roadway and crashed.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department announced this incident remains under investigation.
