Culver Town Council to Meet Tonight
The Culver Town Council will be discussing their next steps in the path to be awarded the Stellar Communities designee during their regular business meeting tonight. The town was named a finalist in Division 2 at the end of May. The name of the winning community will be announced at the end of this summer. Culver was placed in Division 2 that recognizes towns with a population less than 5,999. The Town of Culver will be competing with the Town of Churubusco in Whitley County and the City of Union City in Randolph County.

Man Evades Police, Following High Speed Chase through LaPorte, St. Joseph Counties
Police are looking for a man who led officers on a high-speed chase through two counties Friday evening. Deputies with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office say it began around 8:15, when they spotted a speeding vehicle traveling east on U.S. 20 near State Road 39. A deputy pulled over the driver near Range Road.

The North Judson Town Council approved the payment of over $31,000 in lift station bills this week. The bulk of that is to replace the control panel and pumps at the 3rd Street lift station, after it was damaged by a hit-and-run driver last month.

Starke County voters may notice a new piece of technology the next time they head to the polls. County Clerk Vicki Cooley is recommending that the county purchase e-poll books. Under the new system, voters would sign their name on a digital tablet when they go to cast their ballot, rather than a traditional paper book.
