Shelia Kay Garling, 61, of Winamac, IN passed away at 10:45 AM Sunday, June 2, 2019 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello, IN. Shelia was born on June 17, 1957 in Logansport, IN to Richard T. and Wanda May Shidler Myers. She was a graduate of Frontier High School in Chalmers, IN. On April 17, 1982, Shelia married Brad L. Garling in Chalmers. He survives.

Semone R. Minix

Semone R. Minix, age 47, of North Judson, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Semone was born September 4, 1971 in Orange County, California. She had been working as a cashier at the Zip Thru Mart in Knox. On May 8, 2004 she married Gellis “Gill” Minix, he survives. Also surviving are her daughter, Emrald Nichole Brown of North Judson, step daughters, Stephanie Lillie Brooke of Toto and Michelle Rose Hutton of Knox, sisters, Tanya Helser of Warsaw and Ronda Hayter of Arizona, her step father, John Booker (Sandi) of North Judson, and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael Lister and Debra Blue Lister.

Theodore L. “Ted” Bombagetti

Theodore L. “Ted” Bombagetti, age 63, of Knox, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019. He was born October 11, 1955 in Chicago. Ted was dedicated to his community. For 40 years, he served his community as a volunteer fire fighter. He was a member of the Bass Lake and Knox-Center Township Fire departments. Starting out at Bass Lake, he was Chief for 6 years.

He was currently the Assistant Fire Chief of the Knox-Center Township Fire department. To him, being a fire fighter was a true calling and an honor. He also served as Starke County’s Emergency Management Director before taking a regional position with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

During his children’s time in the Knox School Corporation, he served as the Band Booster president for 4 years. He was well known for his ability to efficiently pack the trailer with props and instruments. Ted also happily cooked breakfast for post-prom goers. Encouraging those, when leaving, to pick a better pair of shoes than those they arrived in.

Ted will always be remembered for his ability to make all feel welcome. He had an uncanny way to make those around him feel important, loved, and supported. To him, no one was a stranger. His 7 grandchildren were his pride and joy. Ted was most happy and slept the most sound when everyone was home. His family will miss playing 7 Card No Peek, watching movies, and his infectious spirit. And of course, everyone who knew Ted knew that he was a huge Notre Dame fan, especially football….Go Irish!

On September 23, 1978, in Knox, he married Carol Albright, she survives. Also surviving are his mother, MaryAnn Bombagetti of Knox, his daughters, Sarah Nehrbass (Jon) of Seattle, Washington, Katie Jordan (Jesse) of Knox, and Angela Carver (Tim) of Galveston, Indiana, his brothers, Joe Bombagetti (Denise) of Crown Point, Indiana and Ed Bombagetti (Rose) of Cedar Lake, Indiana, and his 6 grandchildren, Amelia and Eleanor Nehrbass, Rylan, Kohl and Jude Jordan, and Madelynn Carver. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bombagetti and a granddaughter, Jessah Jordan.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4-8pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11am (CT) Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox-Center Township Fire Department, 101 W. Washington St., Knox, IN 46534.

A Funeral Mass for Wanda J. Buczek, 98, of Medaryville, will be held Thursday, May 30 at 11 a.m. EDT at St. Francis Solano Catholic Church in Francesville. Patty L. Ford

Patty L. Ford passed away peacefully on May 15, 2019 at Pulaski Center Health Care Center in Winamac, In.

Patty was a member of the North Judson United Methodist Church and served as treasurer for many years. She enjoyed reading and she was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Surviving are four daughters, Diana (David) Vermilyer, Vicki (Dale) Sturgell, Linda (Lance) Lewandowski, Karen Ford and one son, Steve Ford. Patty is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 46 great grand-children and 8 great, great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was attending all the activities of her grandchildren as they were growing up.

(Dolly) LaVerne Minarik went to be with the Lord on May 12th, 2019 at the age of 94, in her sleep at Life Care Center, Rochester Indiana. Dolly was born on March 31st, 1925 at Cook County Hospital in Chicago Illinois to Frank and Julia Kajer. Dolly was married to Joseph Minarik on September 23rd, 1946 in Tennessee, was a housewife and helped on the family farm.

Raymond Curtis Christian, 76, of North Judson, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend surrounded by his family. He was born on July 18, 1942 in Lamar County, Alabama to Noble and Mary Francis (McCool) Christian. He was married on September 16, 1984 in North Judson to Susan Liechty, a former resident of Berne.
