From the North Judson Police Department:
02/20/11 In the 600 block of E. Talmer Avenue, a resident reported to North Judson Police that cash and several items were reported stolen from her vehicle while parked at a local store. Police reminds all citizens to keep your vehicle locked at all times.
02/18/11 North Judson Police Officer Mathew Anderson attempted to initiate a traffic stop on County Road 250 west near Southside Parkway shortly after midnight. As Officer Anderson was turning on the vehicle, it accelerated and continued south on 250 West. When the vehicle approached State Road 10 it continued south at a high rate of speed, without stopping. The pursuit continued south to 800 South and than west toward State Road 39. The vehicle ran the stop sign at State Road 39 as well and continued west to 500 West where it turned into the potato shed area, through some weeds, into a wire fence, and into a field. Officer Anderson waited for backup officers, including Starke County Officer Ken Tomasko, Knox City Officer Chris Kisela, North Judson Chief Doug Vessely, and Pulaksi County Deputy Jason Woodruff. Arrested and taken into custody were the driver, Wesley David Born, 24, and a passenger, Kyle Lewandowski, 23, both of North Judson. Born was charged with felony Resisting Law Enforcement, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, and Reckless Driving. Lewandowski was charged with Public Intoxication. Vessely commend the officers on a job well done and thanked the other Departments for assisting.
02/14/11 The North Judson Middle School reported the theft of monies from two separate incidents in the past week to the North Judson police. The school had conducted an investigation resulting in one 14-year-old male suspect admitting to both thefts. All the information was submitted to the Starke County Probation Department.
02/20/11 – Ryan R. Jackson, 30, 708 E. Washington Street, Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
02/18/11 – Wesley David Born, 24, 4935 S. State Road 39, North Judson, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.

02/16/11 – Ryan A. Kretchmer, 34, 5272 S. Holiday, North Judson, IN, arrested on a Failure to Appear warrant from Knox City Court.
02/13/11 – Raymond E. Senesac, 41, 7035 S. 250 West, North Judson, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operator Never Licensed.

02/20/11 A caller reported a fire close to a building in the Medaryville area. The Medaryville Fire Department advised that it was a scrap fire and it is under control.
02/19/11 Officers responded to a call that a man it sitting in a pickup truck in the middle of the roadway in Star City. Police found the man to be intoxicated. Michael Grcich of Valparaiso was arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Habitual Traffic Violator and Possession of Paraphernalia.
02/18/11 A case of identity theft was uncovered when a Winamac resident attempted to apply for a handgun permit. The applicant’s social security number was found to be used by another individual.
02/18/11 A caller reported that his dog reportedly “ate meth” while at a friend’s house.
02/18/11 A Winamac resident reported that someone just tried to steal her bike.
02/17/11 A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the Pulaski area, west of Highway 119. A green Chevy truck with a brush guard is parked near an abandoned house. The same vehicle was seen parked by a burned out house a few days ago.
02/17/11 A caller in Cass Township reported a possible meth lab in a residence.
02/17/11 A fire was reported in a field in the Medaryville area. The Francesville Fire Department advised that residents were conducting a controlled burn.
02/17/11 A resident in the Medaryville area reported the theft of tattoo equipment.
02/16/11 A Star City resident reported the theft of a hub cap and gas cap off her vehicle.
02/16/11 A caller in Winamac reported her sister’s dog is stuck in the river and can not get it out of the river. The dog was rescued five minutes later.
02/16/11 A caller in Medaryville reported that some unknown person(s) cut the screen on his porch.
02/15/11 A caller told police that he is a taxi driver and he picked up a subject from the Porter County Jail headed to Pulaski County. The taxi driver said in order to pay him, the subject was to get the money from his mother. When they got to the residence, the subject jumped out, took off and never paid him.

02/18/11 A resident on Lafayette Street told police that four male subjects go into a residence through a window everyday. She suspects drug activity.

02/14/11 Rodney Newbourne of LaPorte reported his oversized black wallet stolen from his vehicle. He also had a black zip-style CD cases stolen, along with a house key and medication.

02/19/11 Kyle Nissen called police to report people riding dirt bikes and tearing up the roads in the 500 block of Wesley Street and Borne’s Trailer Court.
02/19/11 Mike Hayes of Hamlet told police that his residence was broken into in the last week. He was out of town when the incident occurred.
02/16/11 A resident in the 5300 block of S. 250 E. in Knox reported the theft of items from the residence.
02/16/11 A resident in the 8900 block of S. 300 W. in North Judson called police to report four wheelers tearing up the neighborhood.
02/15/11 A caller in the 100 block of W. Toto Road in North Judson reported the theft of parts off his truck.
02/14/11 A resident found a large trash bag partially in the roadway on 300 South, between 300 and 350 East. When the bag was opened, four to six dead raccoons were found inside.
02/14/11 A semi crossing the railroad tracks on US 35 in Knox broke one of the crossing arms as the arm was coming down to stop traffic for an oncoming train.
02/18/11 Rosalind Miller, 49, of Knox, IN, arrested for a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

02/17/11 Adam Lolmangh, 23, of Plymouth, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Conversion.
02/20/11 Stanley Dunker, 69, of Knox was traveling west on Toto Road when he hit ice on the road and lost control of his vehicle. He then continued off the north side of the road, flipping his vehicle three times. He was not injured.
02/18/11 Edward O’Boyle was traveling eastbound on State Road 10 when 93-year-old William Lemke pulled into the roadway from the Highland Cemetery, attempting to go westbound on State Road 10 to North Judson. O’Boyle told police he was unable to avoid striking Lemke’s vehicle on the driver’s side. Lemke was pronounced dead at the scene. O’Boyle sustained minor injuries. Both O’Boyle and Lemke are from North Judson. A witness told police that she saw Lemke stopped at the stop sign at the entrance of Highland Cemetery. She said that the sun was about to set and that it was hard to see oncoming traffic.
