Winamac Town Council Receives Updates on Police Station Renovations

Members of the Winamac Town Council received a couple of updates about renovations to the new police station during their meeting Monday evening. Town Marshall Mike Buchanan said that a new building on Main Street was purchased back in January and renovations started around March. He predicts they’re approximately 4-6 weeks away from occupying the new space.

During the Town Manager report at the meeting, Brad Zellers told members all that’s left to do is ceiling, door and flooring installation, as well as work that needs done in the parking lot. Continue reading

Winamac Park Board Must Explore Different Grant Options for Pool Project

Back in June, the Winamac Park Board submitted an application for $200,000 in match money from the DNR’s federal Land and Waterways Conservation Fund grant. Winamac Park Board to Continue Exploring Veterans Memorial Park Options

The Winamac Park Board is scaling back its plans for upgrades to Veterans Memorial Park, at least for now. Park Board President Courtney Poor had suggested adding a decorative archway prominently displaying the name of the park. But during last week’s meeting, he said he has reconsidered, after residents complained the archway would clutter the park.

Winamac Park Board Updates Residents on Pool Grant Application

The Winamac Park Board is moving ahead with a grant application for the town’s swimming pool rebuilding project. The town’s applying for up to $200,000 in matching money from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Before turning in the grant application, the park board held a public hearing Monday to give residents a chance to weigh in on the project. Continue reading

Winamac Park Board Discusses Potential Pool Maintenance Costs

The Winamac Park Board continues to explore the expected maintenance costs for a rebuilt swimming pool. Last week, board member and town manager Brad Zellers presented a list of eight cities and towns around the state and what they spend each year on their pools. Of those, only two broke even, with pool admissions and concession sales. Continue reading
