North Judson’s spring cleanup event was a success, according to Town Marshal Kelly Fisher. She told the town council Monday that about 200 letters were sent before the event to homes that police believed needed attention. Out of those, she said she wrote six tickets Monday for homes that still didn’t comply.

Permit Question Brought Before the North Judson Town Council
With this weekend’s pleasant weather, you may have noticed ice cream trucks making their first rounds of the season. A citizen of North Judson submitted a question to town council members Monday night, about a truck he saw driving around town over the weekend.
He asked what kind of permit is required for those drivers to sell their wares. Town Council President Wendy Hoppe responded that they need a peddler’s permit to legally sell the treats within the town limits. Continue reading
Knox Code Enforcement Efforts Stall
Code enforcement efforts by the City of Knox have hit a bit of a snag. Building inspector Bruce Williams has had no success contacting the owner of the house at 202 N. Pearl Street. During their June 22nd meeting, the Knox Board of Works gave him a maximum of 60 days to make significant interior and exterior repairs to the property. Continue reading
Knox Mayor Seeks to Improve Code Enforcement Efforts
Knox Mayor Dennis Estok says the city can do a better job with code enforcement. Efforts have been stepped up recently to address unsafe buildings. During Monday evening’s town hall meeting, Estok said structures that can’t be rehabilitated are ordered to be torn down.
So far four houses have been razed with money from a blight elimination grant. Another four are under contract for demolition, and the city is seeking approval for two more. Continue reading
