Red Cross Seeks Blood Donations, Amid Continuing Shortage
The American Red Cross continues to experience a severe blood shortage. Red Cross officials say blood donations are being distributed faster than they are coming in, and the supply has fallen below the five-day level the Red Cross tries to maintain. The organization says all types of blood are needed, but there’s a particular need for type O.
Winamac Town Council Meets Tonight
Winamac Town Council members are expected to discuss the status of the Local Income Tax (LIT) Issue with the county when they meet tonight at 6 p.m. ET.
The council will also consider a quote for the updated ordinance book and Town Attorney Justin Schramm will discuss arbitrage correspondence. The Jefferson Township fire contract will be up for approval and two ordinances will be considered. Continue reading
Winamac Park Board President Calls for Repairs to Wellness Center Parking Lot
Concerns about the condition of the parking lot at the Community Wellness Center of Winamac and who’s responsible for maintaining it are being raised by the town’s park board president.
“I have never seen a more atrocious parking lot in my life, as that I see up there where the pool was at the Wellness Center right now,” Park Board President Courtney Poor said during last week’s meeting. “And I am telling you that I will be going to the board meeting on the 14th and getting myself on the agenda, to tell the town board exactly that, as a concerned citizen.”
Questions Raised Over Particular Appointment at Winamac Town Council Meeting
During Monday Night’s Winamac Town Council meeting, while on the topic of appointments, the position of “Pulaski County Family Y Representative” was brought up. Councilwoman Judy Heater was previously appointed to this position. However, she said she had no absolutely no interest in serving on that board again.
Council President Tom Murray asked what they would need to do with this position since the organization now operates as the Community Wellness Center of Winamac and is no longer a Family YMCA. Continue reading

The Red Cross Blood Mobile will be stationed at Culver Middle/High School from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, January 11th.

Community Crossings Funds May Mean Sidewalk and Drainage Improvements for Winamac
The Town of Winamac hopes to make some sidewalk and drainage improvements, as part of this year’s Community Crossings projects. The state program covers up to 75 percent of the cost for local road work.
DNR Plans Site Visit for Winamac’s Pool Grant Application
The Town of Winamac will soon get a visit from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to see if the town’s swimming pool rebuilding project deserves grant funding. A site visit is scheduled for Thursday, July 13, according to Park Board Secretary Kim Burke.
