The Maxinkuckee Yacht Club will be able to continue its kids’ sailing lessons at the Culver Beach, but further contract negotiations are expected in the coming months. The town council last week voted to extend its current agreement with the yacht club through the end of January. For the past four summers, the group has been using the beach to host Saturday morning sailing lessons, along with four-day sailing camps.
Meet Culver’s New Park Superintendent Tomorrow on Opening Day for the Beach
Culver’s new Park Superintendent has been busy preparing the park and beach for the summer season.
Park Superintendent Amber Cowell attended her first town council meeting Tuesday night. In her report, she announced that the beach will be opening this Saturday. Culver Park Department to Adjust Hours of Operation
Hours of operation at the Culver Beach Lodge will change this summer.
Park Superintendent Anna Campbell Nowalk told the Culver Town Council last week that people want to get out on Lake Maxinkuckee in the morning when the water is calm. The extra activities with additional rentals plus activity with the sailing group left the staff struggling to keep up with visitors first thing in the morning.
Culver Town Officials to Strictly Enforce Smoking Ban at Culver Beach
The Culver Town Council members addressed the issue of smoking at the Culver Town Park and beach when they met Tuesday night.
Park Superintendent Anna Campbell said the ban is difficult to enforce. She does mention to violators that smoking is prohibited, but the authority is not always met with compliance. She noted that there are several posted signs that warn residents that smoking is prohibited at the Culver Town Park and beach. A call will be made to police officers if residents are not complying with the ordinance or if there are threatening circumstances. Culver Park Department Preparing for Summer Season
Summer is right around the corner which means activities around the Culver Park and the Culver Beach will be winding up for the season.
Park Superintendent Anna Campbell told the Culver Town Council members last week that she recently hired a new maintenance employee and she is currently taking applications for lifeguards. Five lifeguards are returning this year and one new lifeguard was recently hired. For more information, call (574) 842-3510.
