Eastern Pulaski School Board Looking for New Van Buren Township Representative

 

The Eastern Pulaski School Board is looking for a new member. Board President Terri Johnston, who represents Van Buren Township, is stepping down because she’s moving out of the area, according to Superintendent Dan Foster. A new Van Buren Township representative is being sought to serve the remainder of Johnston’s term, which runs through the end of 2020.

Eastern Pulaski School Board Secures Decorative Outdoor Lighting

Eastern Pulaski School Board members are helping to shed some light on the schools’ campus with a decision they made last Monday.

Eastern Pulaski School Board Approves Multiple Donations

A recent fund raising event helped raise nearly $2,000 for the Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation.

When school board members met on Monday, they accepted a donation from Jim Dobson Ford. Superintendent Dan Foster said the dealership held a “Drive-4-Ur-School” fundraiser over the summer and raised a total of $1990. Foster said that money has been earmarked for school safety.

Members also accepted a $250 donation from Gibraltar Design. Continue reading

State Law Changes Prompt Policy Adjustments at Eastern Pulaski Schools

Policies at the Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation are getting some adjustments, due to recent changes in state law. The corporation’s medication policy saw the biggest update. School personnel will now be allowed to administer “low THC hemp extract” to students, as long as they have a prescription and written permission from a parent or guardian, and the product meets various state and federal requirements.

Eastern Pulaski School Board Raises Adult Breakfast Price, Ratifies Food Bids

 

A state audit has prompted an adjustment in the adult breakfast price at Eastern Pulaski Schools. Superintendent Dan Foster told the school board last week that school food authorities have to be audited once every three years. “They come in. They check your prices. They look at your calories. They just check everything out,” he explained. “It’s a federal program, so they want to make sure federal dollars are being spent appropriately.”

When it comes to the public perception of Eastern Pulaski Schools, the corporation scores high for safety, security, and school-community connections, but there are some issues with shared decision-making, communication, and trust. That was the overall finding of a recent climate audit conducted by Sycamore Educational Consulting.
