A potential building project continues to be explored at Knox Community Schools. A community task force set up to help guide the process has held its first meeting, according to Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart.
The Knox School Board got a financial update on the school corporation’s facility improvements last week. “We have about $60,000 left in our $5 million bond project that is not encumbered as of yet,” Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart explained. “We still have projects left to do.”
The Knox School Board has approved the list of contractors working on the school corporation’s facility improvement project. During Tuesday’s meeting, Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart presented a list of projects totaling about $4.5 million.
As the Knox Community School Corporation considers future building improvements, school officials are taking a closer look at the corporation’s existing facilities. Back in December, the school board hired architectural firm Schmidt Associates to conduct a facilities study.
The Knox Community School Board held a public hearing Monday night to gather comments on the corporation’s proposal for updates to the Knox High School and additional projects at the two other schools and corporation office.
The Knox Community School Corporation is exploring the possibility of some energy-saving upgrades. On Monday, the school board voted to issue a request for qualifications for a guaranteed energy savings contract. Continue reading
