Discussions continue at Knox Community Schools over a potential building project. Back in September, the school board hired architectural firm Schmidt Associates to develop plans for future construction, after the firm had previously completed a facilities study for the corporation. Representatives will give an update to the school board, during a work session tonight at 6:00 at the Knox Schools Administrative Office.
The Knox Community School Corporation is moving ahead with exploring possible facility improvements. On Tuesday, the school board voted to hire architectural firm Schmidt Associates to develop plans for future construction. The firm recently completed a facilities study for the corporation, and board members felt it made sense to stick with the same company.
The Knox School Board will continue discussing a potential school resource officer position tonight.
The Knox Community School Corporation is planning its next steps, in response to a recent facilities study.
The findings from a facility assessment that was recently conducted by the firm Schmidt Associates was presented to Knox school officials during a work session Monday night.
Several representatives from the company were present and Firm Principal Tom Neff provided the assessment recap to the school board members, administrators and other officials in attendance.

As the Knox Community School Corporation considers future building improvements, school officials are taking a closer look at the corporation’s existing facilities. Back in December, the school board hired architectural firm Schmidt Associates to conduct a facilities study.
The Knox School Board is thinking about issuing bonds for $5 million worth of facility improvements. Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart reviewed the proposed work, as well as some preliminary cost estimates, with the school board Tuesday.
The Knox Community School Corporation is moving ahead with a facilities study. The school board voted Monday to hire architectural firm Schmidt Associates to do the work, according to Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart. He says the study will cost about $21,000.
The Knox Community School Corporation may be asking residents for a tax increase to fund facility upgrades in the coming years. During a school board work session last week, Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart explained that if school officials decide a referendum is needed, he wants to be ready to do it in May or November of 2019.
Confusion over school colors has led to frustration for some Knox School Board members. During Monday’s meeting, member Wendy McIntire called for the board to make a definitive decision, saying the situation is currently a free-for-all. “I’m a little aggravated when you can’t even tell that that’s our team on a lot of it,” she said. The Knox School Board is scheduled to consider the non-renewal of an administrator’s contract when it meets this evening. According to the advance agenda, board members will also be asked to approve an energy savings request for quotation.
