Continue readingCulver’s golf cart ordinance may soon be getting some clarifications. An amended ordinance was presented for first reading during last week’s town council meeting, by Council President Ginny Bess Munroe. “Basically, nothing is changing,” she explained. “We are clarifying our ordinance because we find that when we try to enforce it, people don’t have an understanding of the fact that you shouldn’t have a four-year-old driving your golf cart. So we’ve added some language here, throughout this.”
A Winamac resident came before the Town Council Monday night, to request an amendment to the Town’s golf cart ordinance.
Tony Calabrese mentioned that Pulaski County’s ordinance allows utility vehicles on the roads for business use. He asked the council members if they would consider making a change to the Town’s existing ordinance to allow for the use of UTVs. Continue reading
Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin asked the county commissioners last week if a vehicle impound fee could be implemented.
Knox City Council members amended the golf cart ordinance to provide some clarification about registration when they met Thursday night.
The language in the existing ordinance simply stated that registration would be good for one calendar year. However, Mayor Dennis Estok mentioned that caused some confusion since there was no consistency with when individuals were renewing. In order to make it easier to regulate, officials decided to come up with a set time-frame that registration would last. Continue reading
North Judson residents will no longer be able to register their utility vehicles as golf carts. Some Gators and similar types of vehicles have been permitted in the past, even though the town’s golf cart ordinance is not designed to apply to any other vehicles.
North Judson may soon revisit its golf cart ordinance. Police Officer Frank Thomas told the town council Monday that residents are buying vehicles expecting to be able to register them as golf carts. But he said they’re clearly not what the ordinance envisioned. Continue reading
The Knox Police Department will begin enforcing the city’s golf cart ordinance today. That means golf carts operated within the city limits must have either a valid city or county-issued permit and be operated by a licensed driver, unless a waiver is granted by the city council.
