North Judson’s new grocery store is set to open next month. Teo Dobre gave the town council an update Monday on the work taking place at the former Grand Central Station building that he purchased. He said he hopes to have the store up and running by a week after the Fourth of July.

Teams of innovators tried to tackle some of Starke County’s most pressing challenges, as part of the Indiana Bond Bank’s Flipping Finance Challenge. Graduate students, experts in particular fields, and others interested in improving communities gathered in Indianapolis last week for an “18-hour design sprint.” The goal was to try to come up with creative solutions to challenges facing Starke County, Jay County, and the City of Bloomington with the chance of winning prizes.

Heartland Market in North Judson will not be headed for tax sale this year.
The cost of a classic Thanksgiving dinner including turkey, stuffing, cranberries, pumpkin pie, and the basic trimmings increased by $1.86 this year, according to an informal statewide survey of grocery store prices coordinated by Indiana Farm Bureau. The cost for this year’s feast for 10 is $45.79.
