The Pulaski County Election Board is getting some outside help with Election Day IT support. The county commissioners Tuesday approved a contract with IT Consultant Willie DeGroot for the May primary and November general elections.

Pulaski County Time Capsule Sealed for 50 Years
A time capsule containing current events in Pulaski County is now sealed and awaits reopening in 2066.
Jon Frain led the ceremony on the Pulaski County Courthouse lawn Wednesday morning where he recited the commissioner’s resolution in support of the time capsule entombment. He said several items were placed inside the vault.
Items Sought for Pulaski County Time Capsule
Pulaski County wants to make sure future residents have a chance to know what life was like in 2016 and 2017. With the help of Frain Mortuary, the county’s been putting together a time capsule to commemorate last year’s Indiana Bicentennial.
Pulaski County Election Board to Research E-Poll Book Purchase
The Pulaski County Election Board will be looking into the feasibility of purchasing e-poll books after meeting with the Pulaski County Commissioners Monday night.
Board member Jon Frain explained that the implementation of e-poll books is the next step in upgrading the election equipment. The county would purchase iPads with election software. Voting officials would be able to scan a voter’s Driver’s License into the computer, and that would create a digital signature page to move the process at a quicker pace.
Pulaski County Voters Elect Sheriff, Commissioner
In Pulaski County Republican Jeff Richwine is the sheriff-elect. He beat Democrat Paul Grandstaff in the contest to replace Mike Gayer, who is retiring due to term limits. Republican Bud Krohn Jr. beat Democrat John Plowman in the county commissioners race. He will replace incumbent Tracey Shorter, who did not seek reelection. Neither did Democrat Councilman Ron Powers. His daughter Linda Powers beat Republican Pam Chumley in that race. Continue reading
Local Funeral Director Named to State Board
A local funeral director is a newly appointed member of the Indiana Funeral Education Foundation board of directors.
Jon Frain of Frain Mortuary in Winamac is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington and Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago. The foundation supports continuing education, scholarship and other financial aid opportunities for funeral directors and other professional in the field. They also educate the general public on the value of the funeral and the role of the funeral director in society and make charitable contributions on behalf of the funeral service.
