Knox Council Agrees to Pay for Half of Water Filtration Updates with American Rescue Plan Money

The City of Knox will be dipping into its American Rescue Plan money to upgrade its water filtration system, but exactly how much it will cost still remains to be seen. The city council recently agreed to use the money to cover half the cost of replacing the filter media, at the recommendation of Mayor Dennis Estok.

Knox Board of Works Orders Property Owners to Fix Buildings or Pay $2,500 Fine

Two Knox property owners have been given 30 days to finish repairing their buildings or face a $2,500 fine. Mayor Dennis Estok told the rest of the board of works last week that the front of 1 North Main Street has had broken glass for months, and while owner Pete Milev said he has some replacement glass, it hasn’t been installed yet.

Knox Board of Works Adds $5,000 Fine for 401 E. Lake Street

The Knox Board of Works is increasing the fines on 401 East Lake Street. Director of Building and Code Compliance Kenny Pfost recently told board members that the owners were ordered to remove garbage from the property almost three years ago, but issues remain. “It’s been an ongoing battle with them,” Pfost said. “I can’t get them to do what is asked of them.”

Knox Board of Works Approves Final Payout for Wastewater Plant Project despite Ongoing Problems

The Knox Board of Works has approved the final payout for the Wastewater Treatment Plant project, even though some issues remain. After months of negotiations with Thieneman Construction, the board approved a final change order during a special meeting last week. It accepts Thieneman’s offer of two consecutive five-year maintenance bonds, since a concrete pouring mishap last year could make the basement wall more prone to leaks.
