A Trail Creek man suspected of aggravated battery turned himself into police on Friday, Nov. 3.

According to the Trail Creek Police Department, Gordon R. Gardner threw a bottle of alcohol at a female patron while he was a bartender at Decoy’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill in Trail Creek. Arrest Made in Double Fatality Crash

La Porte County officers have arrested a New Carlisle man following a double fatality crash on Friday, Oct. 6.

According to police, 40-year-old Tron Gorbonosenko drove his Ford Mustang head-on into a Honda Odyssey occupied by Don and Angie Kaczmarek. They died as a result of the collision, according to the report. Gorbonosenko was critically injured and was flown from the scene to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he remained for a week. La Porte Police, Bomb Squad Investigate Reported Explosive Device at Residence

La Porte Police and the Porter County Bomb Squad reportedly found an explosive device at a residence in the 700 block of F. St., in La Porte late Wednesday afternoon.

La Porte police detectives were able to secure a search warrant after police received information about a person in possession of explosive material at the home. Officers from the La Porte City Police Department and the La Porte County Emergency Response Team took Eric R. Weiler into custody without incident.

La Porte County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Inmate Death

 

A 35-year-old woman was found unresponsive in her cell in the La Porte County Jail on Saturday night.

Police say that around 10 p.m. CT a jail supervisor was conducting routine cell checks and inmate counts when Andrea Roberts was found inside her cell and not responding to the officer. The jail supervisor attempted resuscitation efforts. Roberts was transported to the La Porte Hospital where she was pronounced dead a half hour later, according to police.

17-Year-Old Inmate Found Unconscious After Alleged Suicide Attempt

A 17-year-old inmate from the LaPorte County Jail is being treated in the Critical Care Unit of IU Health La Porte Hospital after he allegedly attempted to commit suicide by hanging himself with a sheet.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, jail staff discovered the inmate not breathing in his cell, but the jail staff’s quick response and CPR efforts revived him, and he was breathing on his own when taken from the facility by ambulance.

According to video surveillance, a supervisor checked on the inmate during a shift-change count of the inmates, but he was discovered seven minutes later during another routine security check.

The inmate is charged with a revocation of suspended sentence from work release, with original charges stemming from an offense for which he was charged as an adult due to the seriousness of his offense. His name is not being released at this time due to his age and the ongoing investigation.
