The town council members met in special session Monday night to discuss repairing the current water tower or erecting a completely new structure. According to Clerk-Treasurer Judy Harwood, the council weighed both options quite heavily. They eventually decided to build a new water tower as it was the most economical option.

Last week, representatives from Commonwealth Engineers reviewed the different types of water towers with council members, and made some recommendations for replacing the town’s current one, according to Clerk-Treasurer Judy Harwood.

The Town of Medaryville is working on plans for a new water tower. According to officials in the clerk-treasurer’s office, the plan is to build the water tower across the street from the town hall, on land currently owned by the Diocese of Lafayette. During a special session Friday, the town council voted to make an official offer to buy the two parcels for $6,000.

An officer from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department was called to the Medaryville Town Hall on Friday in reference to a battery.
Phillip Brunton, of Demotte, who works for Allied Waste Systems, was picking up refuse in the area of 203 E. Ridge Street when he was struck in the right side of the neck by an unknown object.
