Two Arrested on Drug Charges in Plymouth
A pair of Winamac residents were arrested Tuesday afternoon when narcotics were allegedly found in their speeding vehicle.
A Plymouth Police Department officer pulled over a car driven by 41-year-old Christopher Fields at the intersection of Cook Street and Oak Drive in Plymouth. Marshall County K9 Arras was called to the scene where the dog reportedly indicated the presence of narcotics. Methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana were found in the car, according to a news release.

Charges Filed in Runaway Case
Formal charges were filed Thursday in Marshall Superior Court 1 against a man suspected of participating in sexual misconduct with a minor and helping a minor run away from home.
Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman filed felony charges against Rigoberto Calix Reyes, 21, that include sexual misconduct with a minor and forgery, as well as a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Bail is set at $100,000 cash.
Missing Plymouth Teen Found in Another State
A Plymouth teen who ran away has been found in Texas along with the man who reportedly took her with him.
Alyssa Tapia was reported missing on March 6 and was believed to be with Rigoberto Calix-Reyes. It is alleged that Reyes falsified his identity to get into Plymouth High School two years ago, according to a WSBT-TV report.
The report also states that Alyssa Tapia is pregnant. Arrangements are being made to have the pair transported back to Indiana.

Kankakee Valley Broadcasting Celebrates MAX 98.3 FM Launch
Join the staff of Kankakee Valley Broadcasting for today’s ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the launch of WYMR-FM, MAX 98.3. The 6,000 watt radio station is licensed in Culver and Plymouth and is a sister station to K99.3 WKVI FM and Kountry KVI 1520 AM, both of which are licensed in Knox. The stations share an air staff and news department and play a similar mix of hit music from the 1970s through present day. Continue reading
Plymouth Kmart Store to Close
A store that has been in the Plymouth community for 20 years will be closing in mid-April.
Approximately 60 employees will be let go from the Kmart store on Pilgrim Lane, and they found out about the closure last week, according to a report in the South Bend Tribune.
Plymouth High School Students Participate in National Day of Service
Plymouth High School Key Club members participated in a National Day of Service on Monday to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Several students were at the Plymouth Fire Department washing fire trucks while others were lifting and carrying boxes down flights of stairs to help organize things at the Marshall County Museum. The animals at the Marshall County Humane Society got some exercise Monday morning when the students took them out for walks and played with them. The students also cleaned the cages and gave the animals food and fresh water.
