Discussions about moving Pulaski Circuit Court into the Justice Center are drawing complaints from Judge Michael Shurn. During Monday’s county commissioners meeting, Shurn complained that he hasn’t been included in recent discussions. “I never see it on the docket, but yet I read about it in the newspaper,” he said. “You’re trying to decide what security is, and you’re trying to decide the future of the Circuit Court. You know, I think it would behoove you all to actually involve the Circuit Court in that conversation. I’m sort of shocked that you don’t do that.”

The cost of providing court-appointed personal injury lawyers is adding up for Pulaski County. The county council Monday approved an additional appropriation of $15,000 for Pauper Council in Superior Court and $30,000 for Pauper Counsel in Circuit Court. But before those appropriations were even finalized, council members got requests for even more money.

Murder Suspect Jailed Without Bond in Pulaski County
The Winamac man accused of fatally stabbing his wife Sunday night at their home is jailed without bond in Pulaski County. Michael Kasten Sr., 59, was released from a hospital in Fort Wayne Wednesday afternoon, where he was being treated for an apparent self-inflicted stab wound. The final pretrial conference for a Denham man who is accused of killing his live-in girlfriend is scheduled April 9 in Pulaski Circuit Court. Paul Katschke is charged with murder in connection with the Aug. 11 death of Amber Renee Taylor, 34. Holcomb Appears for Court Hearing
Kevin Holcomb appeared for a hearing in Pulaski Circuit Court this week. He is facing charges in a December battery incident.
Holcomb, 45, of Star City has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery. He was allegedly involved in a battery incident in which Todd E. Schultz, 41, received extensive head and face injuries at a home in the area of 900 South and 440 East in Star City. Schultz was taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment.
