Courthouse Elevator Update to be Given to Pulaski County Commissioners
The Pulaski County Commissioners will get an update tonight on the courthouse elevator replacement project from Maintenance Supervisor Jeff Johnston. The old elevator is being replaced with a larger one that’s fully ADA-compliant. However, the ongoing construction has forced many government meetings to be moved elsewhere. County officials with offices in the courthouse have also had to make arrangements for those who can’t use the stairs.
Pulaski Commissioners Schedule Hearing for Upcoming Deed Sale, Make Appointments
The Pulaski County Commissioners are planning to auction some county-owned land. They’re looking to hold a commissioners deed sale on August 1, but before that, they’ll hold a public hearing to set a minimum price and officially schedule the auction. The public hearing will take place Monday, June 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Pulaski County Highway Garage, before the commissioners’ joint meeting with the county council.

The condition of Pulaski County’s rental housing is creating a crisis for the county’s health and building departments. Director of Environmental Health Terri Hansen told the advisory plan commission Tuesday she had to deal with 530 environmental complaints last year. When the Whipple Crest subdivision was platted several decades ago, it apparently included a number of roads. But the roads were never built, and the place where they would have gone has since become overgrown with brush.

Pulaski County’s wind turbine regulations will continue to be discussed by the advisory plan commission tonight. Members have been working on updates to the county’s Unified Development Ordinance, to address concerns over a proposed wind farm. They had hoped to have some proposed changes narrowed down after a work session last month, but they still had some questions about what impact wind turbines would have on wells, drainage tiles, private airports, and migratory birds.

Pulaski EMS May Be Able to Take More Transfers, As New Paramedics Join Department
Pulaski County EMS continues to deny most ambulance transfer requests from Pulaski Memorial Hospital, but EMS Director Bryan Corn expects that to change, as new paramedics are added to the department. He told the county commissioners Monday that his department denied all but one of the hospital’s 10 transfer requests during the month of April. Pulaski County EMS has decided not to take transfers when there’s only one paramedic on duty.
