High water is still being reported in several sections of Starke County. Many area parks are remaining closed until further notice and major flooding has been confirmed around the Yellow, Brown and Kankakee River bridges as well as in areas near Bass Lake and English Lake.
Starke County EMA Director J. Nier is encouraging residents to submit damage reports through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security website. Officials are collecting data to submit in order to potentially receive federal or state financial assistance with relief efforts. INDOT Road Closure Updates for Thursday
According to INDOT officials, as of 8:40 a.m. CT Thursday morning, IN 39 between IN 10 and US 30, 3 miles north of North Judson, is closed.
Additionally, as of 9 a.m. Thursday morning, IN 8 is closed in both directions between US 421, in La Crosse, and N 200 E, 2 miles west of Knox. Continue reading

Wednesday Travel Alerts and Road Closures in Pulaski and Starke Counties
Though the rain has stopped for now, there are still several roads in Starke and Pulaski Counties that are closed due to flooding and high water.
Starke County High Way Superintendent Rik Ritzler warns drivers that it is imperative to refrain from driving down the flooded area of a roadway. He said those roads are closed for a reason, and if you get stuck your rescue could divert resources that may be needed elsewhere.
He added that Starke County is on an orange “Watch” level travel alert due to flooding. He explained that a “Watch” means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. Continue reading
