The Hamlet Zoning Board has chosen a demolition contractor for 503 South Starke Street. During a special meeting Wednesday, board members hired JD Excavating to remove the house, unless the owners complete the demolition themselves by September 9. The company submitted the lower of two bids at $6,800.

Hamlet officials have agreed to hold off on condemnation proceedings on 503 South Starke Street as the owner continues to work on the home. During last week’s town council meeting, Council President Dave Kesvormas noted that the sewer and water lines have been corrected and are now within code.
