The Starke County Clerk’s Office received three candidate filings in the first week. Kasey Clark has filed for Starke County Treasurer and Robert (Bob) Sims filed for Starke County Council at Large seat on the Democratic ticket. Clark is currently in the office filling the term of Linda Belork who was removed from the office in August of 2011. Democrat Dennis Estok filed last week for the office of Starke County Surveyor.
Provisional Ballots Counted in Starke County Clerk’s Office
Republican Donna Henry increased her victory margin to six in the North Judson Municipal Election for Clerk-Treasurer today. The provisional votes were inspected and of the four votes examined, two were approved and two were rejected. The two votes for Henry gave her a 223-217 victory over Connie Miller, the Democrat Incumbent.
Also picking up two votes was Tim Cummins, Republican, for the Town Council Ward 3 race. His new vote total is 278. The vote total for his opponent, Democrat Daniel Anderson, stayed the same at 162.
City of Knox Primary Election Filing Deadline is Today
The filing deadline for candidates seeking office in the 2011 Municipal Primary Election for the City of Knox is at Noon today. Candidates seeking office in Hamlet and North Judson have until August 1st to file.
Two people filed in the Starke County Clerk’s Office yesterday. Jane Ellen Felchuck, a Democrat, filed for the North Judson Town Board District 1 seat, a position she now holds on the Board. Kristina Pitts filed on the Democrat ticket for Hamlet Town Clerk-Treasurer.
Charles Hasnerl Officially Files for Knox City Court Judge in 2011 Municipal Election
After announcing his reelection last week, Republican Knox City Court Judge Charles Hasnerl made it official this week when he filed his candidacy in the Starke County Clerk’s office.
Hasnerl has been the Judge of the City Court since 1996 and said in a prepared release that he looks forward to facing the challenge of handling 3,000-4,000 cases a year with new technology. He also praised the establishment of the Starke County Community Corrections organization for giving him sentencing alternatives that he did not have in the past.
Candidates Begin to File for 2011 Municipal Election
The Starke County Clerk’s Office helped sign up candidates Wednesday for the 2011 Municipal Election. Jeff Houston filed for Knox City Clerk-Treasurer and Rick Chambers has filed for Mayor of Knox. Jeff Berg and Greg Matt filed for seats on the Knox City Council. Debra Sue Goble filed for Hamlet Clerk-Treasurer, Connie Miller filed for North Judson Town Clerk-Treasurer and Dan Anderson filed for a seat on the North Judson Town Board.
In Pulaski County, Christina Hoffa has filed for Winamac Town Clerk-Treasurer.
The deadline to file is Friday, February 18th.
