Deputies with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office say it happened around 7:00 p.m., at the intersection of State Road 2 and 18th Street, in front of the LaPorte County Fairgrounds.
Road work is planned in La Porte County next week to increase safety on U.S. 20.
Indiana Department of Transportation crews will install rumble strips on U.S. 20 between U.S. 35 and the U.S. 20 and State Road 2 intersection. Officials say engineers found a way to use equipment and resources from a nearby project on State Road 39 to install this safety enhancement on the heavily traveled highway.
