Winamac Park Board Decides to Stop Pursuing Pool Project

Winamac’s swimming pool rebuilding effort appears to have come to an end. The town council narrowly decided Wednesday not to proceed with the project until the town has the money to support the ongoing maintenance of the pool. Without the town council’s financial support, the park board followed suit Thursday, voting to stop work on the project.

Winamac Park Board to Discuss Veterans Memorial Park, Pool Grant

The Winamac Park Board will consider upgrades to Veterans Memorial Park tonight. Board members have been discussing the addition of a decorative archway, and the VFW and American Legion have each offered to donate a bench. On top of that, the American Legion has offered to place its cannon in the park, should it decide to sell its current building.

Winamac Park Board Updates Residents on Pool Grant Application

The Winamac Park Board is moving ahead with a grant application for the town’s swimming pool rebuilding project. The town’s applying for up to $200,000 in matching money from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Before turning in the grant application, the park board held a public hearing Monday to give residents a chance to weigh in on the project. Continue reading

Winamac Park Board Discusses Potential Pool Maintenance Costs

The Winamac Park Board continues to explore the expected maintenance costs for a rebuilt swimming pool. Last week, board member and town manager Brad Zellers presented a list of eight cities and towns around the state and what they spend each year on their pools.
