Pulaski County property taxpayers may be in for a bit of a shock. A tax restructuring approved by the county council last year lowered the local income tax from a state-high 3.38 to 2.85 percent. That involved adjusting how that money is allocated, shifting much of it away from property tax relief.

The county’s board of finance officially approved the bank’s bid Monday, at the recommendation of Treasurer Teresa Bryant. “As usual with First National, they never charge us any fees for anything and give us the best interest rate,” she explained. “1st Source really stepped up their game, as far as offering more services as far as security, but unfortunately, they’d still charge us fees.”

Pulaski County Commissioners to Revisit EMA Radio Equipment Move, Justice Center Fire Alarm
The Pulaski County Commissioners will continue discussing plans to move the Emergency Management Agency’s radio equipment to the former Winamac Masonic Lodge. Last month, Maintenance Supervisor Jeff Johnston suggested looking into whether the county’s DRMO funds could be used. That money comes from the sale of former military equipment owned by the county.
Pulaski County Board of Finance Wants to Work with Financial Advisor to Boost Investment Returns
Pulaski County may be looking to adjust its investment strategy. During the annual board of finance meeting this month, Treasurer Teresa Bryant reported that the county’s investments did well in 2017. “Our interest has really been coming up on our CDs, which we are still currently doing the $4,250,000 in CDs,” she explained. “We made a little over $31,102.50 on interest for those CDs. And then our checking account is actually doing really well as far as interest, a lot better than it has in the past. We earned $145,262.20.”
Pulaski County Commissioners to Award Paving, Dump Truck Bids
The Pulaski County Commissioners will make another attempt at choosing a paving contractor when they meet this morning. The county has gotten bids from three companies for hot mix asphalt work on County Road 200 South from U.S. 421 to State Road 39 and County Road 400 East from 200 North to 400 North.
