A dentist with a practice in North Judson has been arrested, in connection with a February crash that left one person dead. According to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, Jeffrey J. Bilyak, 47, of Chesterton, surrendered himself at the LaPorte County Jail Wednesday. Officers say a warrant had been issued for his arrest, following an investigation into the February 15 crash.

Two State Roads Reopen after Flooding Event
Two state roads are back open now that flood waters have receded.

INDOT Announces Complete Closure on U.S. 421 Near Medaryville for Bridge Deck Replacement
The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced that all lanes of U.S. 421, north of the Medaryville Town limits will be closed beginning Monday, March 19th and will remain closed until early September.

Francesville Woman Arrested, After Traffic Stop Reportedly Leads to Discovery of Meth, Marijuana
A Francesville woman was arrested on multiple drug charges Sunday, but not before allegedly resisting police officers. Deputies with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office say they pulled over a car driven by Kimberly Mitchell, 54, in the area of U.S. 421 and State Road 14. While speaking with her, officers say they smelled raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.

U.S. 30/421 Intersection Rehabilitation Begins Today
Motorists traveling through Wanatah on U.S. 30 will experience delays for the next several weeks. INDOT crews will remove the old asphalt at the intersection of U.S. 421 and U.S. 30 a lane at a time and replace it all with concrete. The work is part of an intersection restoration project.
