West Central Elementary School Receives PACE Grant

 
 

The West Central Elementary School recently received a grant from the Pulaski Alliance Community Education, or PACE, organization.

Superintendent Don Street said the $15,000 grant helps gives books to students for special occasions, including the summer Bookmobile. The money also assists in the purchase of management of reading diagnostic software.

PACE activities range from support for preschool programs to coordination of adult education initiatives.

New West Central Elementary Principal Hired

West Central School Superintendent Charles Mellon

The West Central School Board members hired a new Elementary School Principal at their meeting Thursday night. West Central School Superintendent Charles Mellon said he will be a great addition to the staff.

“Daniel Zylstra is our new Elementary Principal. He is coming from the Hammond School Corporation. He was at the meeting to sign his contract so he will be ready to jump in and get things rolling here in the near future,” said Mellon.

West Central School Board Discusses Summer Projects

The West Central School Board discussed some summer projects the Board members have been planning this year.

“One is to refinish our gym floor at the high school,” said Superintendent Charles Mellon. “We had some funding left over from our lighting and ceiling tile project in the gymnasium and that leftover funding will be more than enough to cover the gym floor.”
