Winamac Memorial Bridge Lighting Efforts Gaining Momentum

Efforts to add decorative lighting to the Winamac Town Park’s Memorial Bridge are drawing community support. Project organizer Greg Henry told the Winamac Park Board Thursday that he’s already heard from people interested in donating. “It’s kind of a big project, much bigger than I anticipated at first,” Henry said. “But it’s going in the right direction.”

Winamac Council Member Proposes Beach, New Programs for Town Park

Attracting more visitors to the Winamac Town Park is the goal of several ideas presented to the town’s park board last week. Town Council Member Dave Schambers said he’d seen pictures of a beach that existed decades ago in the park and wondered if that might be a cheaper alternative to building a new swimming pool.

Winamac Park Board to Award Construction Bid for New Town Park Restrooms Tonight

The Winamac Park Board will award a construction bid for the Town Park restroom project tonight. Plans call for the old brick restrooms to be demolished and replaced with a new structure, with more ADA-compliant stalls and more room in general. The park board received bids from the FORM-IT Corporation for $165,000 and Gariup Construction Company for $347,500.

Pulaski County 4-H Fair Continues Today

The Pulaski County 4-H Fair continues today with judging of livestock, poultry and open class exhibits this morning, the cornhole tournament at noon, the 3-on-3 basketball tournament at 12:30 p.m., the 4-H Recognition Program and Volunteer Appreciation event at 3 p.m., the Miss Pulaski County Meet and Greet dinner at 5 p.m., the dog agility show at 5 p.m. and the Tractor Pull at 6 p.m.

Winamac Park Board Discusses Landscaping Upgrades at Fairground Entrance

The Winamac Park Board is revisiting plans to upgrade the landscaping near the entrance to the fairgrounds, but getting it done it time for this year’s 4-H Fair may prove to be a challenge. Last year, the park board agreed to let the Pulaski County Jr. Leaders replace the entrance sign, remove most of the bushes surrounding it, and replace the wooden posts used as edging.

Tree Removal, Replacement Continue in Winamac Town Park

New trees have been planted in the Winamac Town Park, while old trees continue to be removed. Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo told the park board last week that 15 of the park’s 18 new trees have now been planted, thanks to Proscapes Unlimited, Dave Bennett, and Park Board Member Jon Chapman. The planting was originally scheduled to take place during a park cleanup day last month, but was delayed by flooding.
