Winamac Town Council Meets Tonight
Winamac Town Council members are expected to discuss the status of the Local Income Tax (LIT) Issue with the county when they meet tonight at 6 p.m. ET.
The council will also consider a quote for the updated ordinance book and Town Attorney Justin Schramm will discuss arbitrage correspondence. The Jefferson Township fire contract will be up for approval and two ordinances will be considered. Continue reading
Winamac Town Council Approves Quote for Renovation Work Needed at the Utilities Complex
On Monday, Winamac Town Manager Brad Zellers informed town council members of some renovation work that must be done at the Utilities Complex.
The electric department is now utilizing the space in that building that used to be the police station. So far they’ve done some in-house work such as painting, organizing and taking care of smaller details.
Zellers explained that there are some issues with the garage on the east side of the building that will require them to seek outside assistance. Continue reading

Winamac Town Council to Hold Special Meeting over Parks and Recreation Department Funds
After learning that the Town of Winamac did not receive the DNR’s Federal Land and Waterways Conservation Fund grant, Winamac Town Council members now have to consider whether or not to move forward with plans to construct a community pool. A special session was scheduled for tonight, in order to ensure that all five council members and the clerk-treasurer will be in attendance.
The special session had to be held today because not all council members will be at the regular meeting on October 16th. It is crucial that all council members are present so they’re able to contribute to the discussion and decisions that will be made regarding parks department funds and plans to build the public pool.
The Winamac Town Council special meeting will commence at 5:30 p.m. EDT in the Winamac Utilities Complex.

During the Winamac Town Council meeting last week, Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger approached the council about scheduling a special work session in order to discuss parks and recreation and the funding involved.
