The Knox Community School Board will consider the adoption of a balanced calendar when they meet this evening. It still features 180 instructional days. School starts the first of August and ends the first of June. Students get longer fall and spring breaks which can be used for remediation or enrichment activities.
Oregon-Davis and North Judson-San Pierre have already adopted the balanced calendar concept. The Culver Community School Corporation is waiting to see what the other schools in the area do before acting. The corporations all work closely to keep their calendars as similar as they can. No dates have been set yet, as school officials are waiting for the state to release the spring testing schedule for the 2015-2016 academic year.
