Wythogan Park Band Stage On Schedule, Restrooms and Concessions Planned

The newest amenity in Wythogan Park should be finished in time for Memorial Day. Knox Mayor Dennis Estok says work on the band stage will resume this spring. He says adding the lights and electricity should not take long. Stone will also be added to the block walls to match the existing Wythogan Park entryway.

The band stage is located between the entrance to the park and the splash pad, which opened last spring. Estok says that project came together quickly thanks to donations of materials and labor from Ozinga Ready Mix and others. The city received similar support for the band stage project from Danny Kajer of Kajer construction. Estok notes people are enthusiastic about the improvements and want to see the city succeed.

He adds one more amenity is planned for the east side of the park. A restroom and concession stand will be located between the splash pad and performance stage. It will be open during concerts and special events. Estok says Kajer Construction has agreed to donate the labor for the building after the city purchases the materials.

Blueprints for the band stage are currently being drawn up.
