Wythogan Park Concession Stand Construction May Be Delayed, as DNR Requests More Information

The next addition to Wythogan Park in Knox may be delayed a bit. A restroom and concession stand is planned for the area between the splash pad and performance stage.

But Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council Tuesday that the city’s application with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources was returned as incomplete. “They needed more information, and they only give you 30 days to get that in to them,” he explained. “If you don’t have it back within 30 days, then you fall all the way back to the back of the list, which would be another four-month delay. So we asked for an extension, and we haven’t heard from them yet.”

Estok said the plan was to start construction this fall, so that grass could be installed in the spring. Now, that timeline may have to be pushed back, depending on the DNR’s decision.
