Knox Board of Works Responds to Stop Order on Permit

The members of the Knox Board of Public Works discussed a stop order on a construction permit at 325 Carlson Drive.

According to City Attorney Leslie Baker, the Knox Planning Administrator and Director of Building and Code Compliance Kenny Pfost issued an order to stop work on Sept. 15 on a steel carport at that residence.

The homeowners hired an attorney who contacted Pfost and wanted to know the authority of the action. Pfost referred the phone call to Baker who was asked to provide the permit applications and other documents involved in the permitting process.

The issue is that the homeowners were apparently enclosing the carport to be more of a garage structure instead of the original intent of a carport building permit.

The construction has not continued since the stop order was initiated.

The board of works members agreed to allow Baker to continue with the issue. She hopes the issue will be resolved fairly quickly.
