Work Ethic Certificate Program Begins at Winamac High School

Winamac High School seniors will soon participate in a newly-installed work ethic certificate program.

The Eastern Pulaski School Corporation’s application for the program was accepted by the Department of Workforce Development to join the Governor’s Work Ethic Certificate Program. The program is designed to connect employers to their local school district to create a collaborative partnership that benefits the community.

Local business partners BraunAbility, Fratco, Galbreath, Plymouth Tube, and Winamac Coil Spring will assist the school in this endeavor.

High school seniors in the program must show positive work ethic, attitude, responsibility, reliability, the ability to work independently, and be responsive to direction. Seniors must have a 98 percent attendance rate, one or less behavioral referral, six hours of community service, a GPA of 2.0 or better and attend one manufacturing day and have at least one documented plant tour.

The program will give participating students a certificate with incentives including guaranteed interviews or preferential treatment in an applicant pool. If employed, that student may receive a variety of bonuses.

Eastern Pulaski School Superintendent Dan Foster said that some of the business partners even offer tuition assistance. For more information, call Foster at (574) 946-4010.
