Knox City Police Department Purchases Tasers

Officers from the Knox City Police Department now have new tasers.

Police Chief Harold Smith told the Knox Board of Public Works members last week that each officer has received a new taser so their equipment is up to date.

A fundraiser was held to collect funds to purchase the tasers through a gofundme account. Sweeney-Julian trial attorneys in South Bend agreed to match all donations to accelerate the donation process. The $6,000 goal was realized in late September and Smith finalized the purchase in October.

The tasers that were utilized by the police department were outdated and some were in desperate need of repair. The police department lacked funding in their budget for the equipment upgrade, but succeeded in the fundraiser.
