Plans for the Winamac Town Park’s new restrooms will be discussed during a special park board meeting Thursday. Board members plan to detail some of the design elements with architect Mark Maddox, according to Board President Courtney Poor. “There are some questions, and [Park Manager] David [DeLorenzo] has expressed some things and I will express some things, too, that we think, maybe, should or shouldn’t happen,” Poor explained last week. “But we need to give our architect some guidance so that he can fulfill his obligation in the time frame which we set forth.”

The goal is to expand the facility to allow for more toilets and more space for wheelchairs. DeLorenzo previously suggested building a men’s restroom, women’s restroom, and shelter as three separate structures. He said that would avoid challenges with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ regulations.

Thursday’s special Winamac Park Board meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. EST at the Winamac Municipal Utility Complex.
