The Knox School Board Monday approved the corporation’s 2018-2019 school calendar. Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart says there aren’t any major changes from this year. “It pretty much models all of last year’s calendar,” he explains. “It’ll still continue to be what they call the balanced calendar, and . . . parents seem to like it, teachers seem to like it. So we’ll continue to do it as long as we can.”
Students’ first day of school will be August 2, 2018. Fall break will be from October 12 through 19. Next year’s Christmas break will run from December 21 through January 4. Spring break will be from March 25 to April 5, 2019. The last day of school will be May 24.
But Reichhart says changes at the state level could impact future calendars. “We do know that there’s some state legislation out there that might be passed in this next session beginning in January that might change the start date for schools in State of Indiana. We’re hoping that does not happen. We hope that we can continue to make local decisions about that.”
Knox and several other local schools have been using the balanced calendar since 2015.
