Officials with the Town of Hamlet are waiting patiently for the Community Crossings project to begin.
Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts said crews are waiting for asphalt plants to open up to get a clear timeline of the project where crews will rebuild Starke Street from Plymouth Street north to U.S. 30. Culvert work will be done and a new sidewalk will be installed along the west side of that road.
The road work will be performed by Walsh and Kelly while the concrete work will be done by Covenant Concrete.
In late fall last year, the Town of Hamlet was awarded nearly $161,000 in Community Crossings funds from the state to upgrade Starke Street.
