More Unsafe Properties Identified in Knox

Paperwork will begin on the legal process on unsafe properties identified in the Parkview Heights area in Knox and in the downtown area.

Knox Planning Administrator and Director of Building and Code Compliance Kenny Pfost told the Knox Board of Public Works last week that an unoccupied house on Clark Street is deemed unsafe as well as a home on Maple Street. Pfost indicated that the ceiling is falling in at that location and is generally in bad shape.

Pfost said he will be conducting an inspection on a property on Washington Street that formerly housed Backstage Music. He received a complaint from the Key Bank maintenance director that rain water coming off of that building is entering a basement window on the bank’s property and causing water issues. Pfost noted that the back window is broken on the Washington Street building and the roof is in bad condition. The ceiling inside the building is falling in. It is highly likely that property will be added to the unsafe properties list.

The Knox Board of Works members will receive more information on those properties in a future setting.
