Trial Begins Today in Starke Circuit Court

A 12-member jury will be seated this morning in a trial that is expected to take approximately three days in Starke Circuit Court.

Roland “Tiger” Minix is facing two counts of criminal confinement as a Level 3 felony and a Level 5 felony. He is accused of forcing a woman into his car, driving south on U.S 35 from a property on 800 South in Knox and not allowing the victim to leave the car. Court documents state that he stopped abruptly by the Tippecanoe River State Park entrance and allegedly beat the woman outside of the vehicle. She was then reportedly left there. She was able to contact someone to pick her up and she was later taken to Starke Hospital in Knox. The victim’s injuries were extensive to the point where facial reconstruction surgery was required, according to court documents.

The alleged incident occurred on Feb. 14, 2017.

The proceedings will commence today at 9 a.m. After the jury is seated, the state and defense will have opening arguments and testimony will begin.
