Knox Mayor Announces Final Movie in the Park Event, Addresses Ongoing Project

Knox Mayor Dennis Estok shared Tuesday night that there will be a special show on the performance stage at Wythogan Park tonight, prior to the showing of ‘Paddington 2.’

Since tonight is the final ‘Movie in the Park’ event of the season, Mayor Estok said that Kalita – the Master of Magic will be making a special appearance! Kalita’s magic show will start at 7:30 p.m. and the movie will be shown around 8:30. Citizens are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

In addition to that announcement, Mayor Estok addressed an ongoing project at the park.

He noted that work on the new concession stand building near the splash pad was slow going at first since the contractors have been busy with other jobs. However, particular portions of the project have been finished recently and others are nearing completion.

Estok told members, “It’s coming along, the electric is done now and plumbing should be done by the end of this week I think, then we’ll start finishing up the inside.”

He added that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done on the outside but progress is being made. No estimated completion date was given but work will continue and the mayor will provide more progress reports in future meetings.
